We know and understand that children experience liturgy and all the normal events of life with a capacity consistent with their age and stage of development. Children are not simply miniature adults, nor are they blank slates on which any of us can write prescribed scripts. Each child is unique. Personalities and religious sensibilities of children can be influenced and shaped by their experiences and opportunities. Children's Liturgy of the Word is one of the ways in which the Church provides opportunities for children to experience Liturgy (The Mass).
To make it easier for children to participate fully in the Mass, the Directory of Catechesis allows for a Liturgy of the Word with Children, including a Homily, in a separate place not too far from the main worship space.
We offer Children’s Liturgy of the Word for children in Kindergarten through before receiving their First Holy Communion, twice a month on Sundays, during the 10:00 a.m. Mass. No registration is required. Your child is welcome.
